If you ever get a hankering to open up the power supply on that PC
you're abusing I suggest you suppress the urge because you'd have a
conniption fit seeing more parts on just the primary side.

Congratulations on achieving the most ridiculous analogy of the month
in trying to compare a couple of transistors and a half dozen 2
terminal parts 1 amp regulator to a nuclear warhead.

I already have the correct parts and you trying to imply power
N-MOSFETs are 'rare' is just as ridiculous as your nuclear warhead
farce.

Try Mouser. They have over a thousand of just that one type in stock
for 34 cents.

Or maybe you think 1/4W resistors are 'rare'.

No, you're the ****head who can't even remember who he calls ****head."<<

Who the **** needs power N-MOSFETS (with their heat sinking) when two or
four 1N4007s and one cap will do with the RIGHT transformer?? Or, a
bipolar pass transistor and a regulator with the right common one as well
if regulation is really necessary. You are building a poor man's
switchmode supply. All to use a transformer with the wrong number of turns
on the secondary.

And it was Al Marcy that was the ****head in this case.

 He usually is.
