You must mean *after* error detection and correction.
You can't possibly mean the raw data retrieval from your
average CDR (or even commercial moulded disc.)

Where "modest" means hundreds to thousands per disc,
apparently?  (Out of 381,024,000 samples in 72 min)

I just finished a small run (for internal use by the performers)
of a concert that took 79:51 on the disc. 9 seconds left
after removing all the applause.  :-)
