I too have done it using my Digigram VXPocket card and with a Lindos
Studio 
AD/DA converter. It works equally well ADDA as DAAD.  We used as a source
a 
live recording replayed on a Studer analogue 38cm/s tape machine, live 
speech straight off the microphone (through a mic amp, of course!) and 
commercial CDs.  In each case 44.1/16 is audibly transparent in that there

was no way of telling if the source went direct or through the ADDA or
DAAD 
process.
