It broke.
There's a cheap but useful and effective device called the Behringer
UCA202.
You plug it in, its drivers are already part of XP so they load
automagically, it is better than just about any onboard audio interface,
and
it comes with audio-friendly RCA jacks. Under $30 in lots of stores and
online.
