Having paid for a transformerless direct-coupled power amplifier, I don't

want to color it with transformers. Cheater plugs are the most effective
form of hum removal, and also the cheapest.

A cheater plug can be used in conjunction with a ground-fault circuit
interrupter, which will restore the protection removed by the cheater
plug."<<

 Nyoop. It won't.

The only protection needed or desired is to have ONE and only one
excellent ground path and to ensure that no shorts or other faults exist
in the AC primary circuit of the power supplies of the units in the
system.

Assuming one is not using AC/DC vintage equipment or such anomalies as
the earliest no transformer Futtermans (which I guess are technically
AC/DC too!).

The old two wire equipment was _superior_ in this regard and should NOT
be converted to 3 wire. It should be tested with a Megger or hypot though.
If it faults, (and the problem isn't the 5 cent ceramic caps) the PT can
always be rewound.

Simply make up your own two conductor IEC cords.

Theis DOES NOT apply to the advanced audiophile running on 230VAC
balanced US power. In that case a three conductor plug is VERY needed.

Captain Catchfire provides a second IEC female on the back of all his pro
gear. This is a good idea and makes ground loop avoidance easier for
consumos. Unfortunately his consumo stuff doesn't have it. No one ever
said he was REALLY that smart, did they????
