It should be connected to something that is at 12V when the lights are
switched on. You cannot use instrument lighting, because that has a
variable voltage. Look for some light that does not dim when you turn
down the instrument light dimmer (glove compartment, maybe?). If you
don't have anything near the radio, you may have to draw a wire from
the light switch. You will definitely find the right signal there.
