For what good it did me..............  At souncheck nothing much
registered 
on it.  In group performance the board was covered in red!  Much as I hate

to prolong the debate (and, believe me, this is not my intention) I had to

fight the instinct to use the meter and instead listen to how quiet the 
performer was and make a guestimate adjustment on the trim to where I 
figured he or she would reach on stage.  This usually meant them being
just 
audible at soundcheck.
