Phil,

The last time we were in South Korea, Squonk Opera deleted some of their
slapstick stuff because they were worried about the cultural
differences; we didn't want to offend anybody. But, as I saw some of the
other shows, I realized that Koreans were very warm & responsive. But,
it was too late for us to revise our show. If it's funny, it's funny. We
made the same mistake at the Fringe Fest in Edinburgh, Scotland. And
that was a primo place to do slapstick.

When our show started in Uijeongbu, South Korea four years ago, the
audience hooted & hollered as the show began. We were STUNNED! It was
the best audience we ever had. Seriously!

And the sound crew was the best I EVER had anywhere. Every time I asked
my interpreter to ask the sound crew to do something, they already did
it before the interpreter said a word. They saw my ears perk up &
corrected the situation before they were asked. It doesn't get much
better than that.
