Dear Denny Strauser,
Thank you for your email.
Firstly, the wireless frequency bands legally allowed in Korea are as
follows.
Frequency Band
72.610 - 73.910MHz
74.000 - 74.800MHz
75.620 - 75.790MHz
173.020 - 173.280MHz
217.250 - 220.110MHz
223.000 - 225.000MHz
740.000 - 752.000MHz
928.000 - 930.000MHz
950.000 - 952.000MHz
But we do not get the approval for Shure U4D series from the Korean
approval agency. So I can say that all the U4D versions available in
Korea are im****ted directly from outside Korea, which means that the U4D
version the Busan Cultural Center rented probably doesn’t follow the
above frequency table. So it is better for you to ask the Busan Cultural
Center directly about the frequency band.
Secondly, if your transmitter is Audio-Technica, I’m almost sure that
you cannot use it with Shure U4D receiver even if the frequency band is
the same since the companding circuit inside the U4D transmitter and
receiver is different from that of the A-T wireless systems. It may
output the audio signal, but the audio quality cannot be guaranteed.
So if you need to use your own microphones, I suggest you to bring your
own wireless systems.

Subject: South Korean wireless frequencies - in English please
Hello,
My name is Denny Strauser. I am the sound man for Squonk Opera. We will
be performing in Busan soon.
The Busan Cultural Center rented Shure U-4D wirelesses for our shows.
What I need to know is, what wireless frequencies are used in South
Korea. We requested that Audio Technica 4000 series wireless systems be
provided, because we would be able to use our own mics. But, since they
are providing Shure U-4D wirelesses, we are considering bringing our own
transmitters & receivers. The mic connectors are different, and not
compatible.
So, I have two questions:
1) Can our transmitters work w/ Shure receivers?
2) What frequencies are used in South Korea? (our wirelesses operate
between 655.500 and 680.375 MHz)
I would be grateful if you can answer my questions. We will do shows at
Busan Cultural Center on May 3 and 4.
We want to use our own mics because we have a number of different mics.
one Crown CM-311 for lead vocal; one Audio Technica headset mic for
dialog; one mini lavalier directional mic for flute and dialog; one
lavalier for saxophone; two lavalier mics for accordion; and one 1/4
inch cable for electric bass. We also asked for a spare lead vocal
wireless for our spare CM-311, but the upright bass that is being rented
has no pickup, so we'll need another lavalier mic for upright bass.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time,
-Denny Strauser
