Re: loud humming in recordings

Hi,
I don't know if my post will help, however from my experience as a radio 
broadcaster for many years, I tend to use a mic with a decent length of
lead 
attached to my Sony Net MD MZ-N710 Walkman to distance my mic from any
noise 
pickup from either the motor or the mains. Those dinky little
unidirectional 
or compact mics that plug into the mic socket will pick-up hum because
they 
are in immediate proximity to any noise coming from your MD. My mic of 
choice is a Sony ECM-M9907 condensor mic, has about 1.5m of cord and it
does 
a perfect job every time. It is a fair bit more expensive than the dinky 
models, however it is ideal for travelling and performs well.
