As Ricardo points out, the description "Static" is an imprecise term
technically.  I'd have to hear a recorded example of the static versus
what the level boosted line in sounds like in order to know what sort
of static the OP is experiencing in order to advise him the cause.  I
would really like to see the manual for the device.  there could be a
clue there.  Perhaps an impedance mismatch or using a balanced out
into a unbalanced input.  If there is enough gain to over drive the
mic pre, there should not be a level problem with the line in jack.
the Op doesn't give any quantitative information about how much he has
to boost the line in level either.  the OP is not providing enough
information.
