That's about what I paid in the US, about 7 to 8 dollars.
I thought about telling you the machine was no longer worth anything,
but I would take it off your hands, paying you much more than it
appears to be worth, but my honest nature took over. In reality, I'd
just like to have a back-up because I like it so much. I'll keep my
eyes on internet sources of used minidiscs, hoping.

Bless you for your honesty, gully :) It may also be worth looking out on
Ebay for an MT290. I have the MT270 (the same version but without a
microphone or remote control and only an Optical Line In). Although it
looks
decidedly retro (ugly!) in comparison to the older MT877, in my opinion it
sounds slightly better (mine is still working fine so I can compare them
side by side). Although it uses an ordinary AA battery and has no charger,
the battery lasts for absolutely ages and the unit is as tough as old
boots. The controls are easier too.
