If your home deck has a digital output (optical or RCA), then you can buy
a
sound card that has a digital input and do a digital transfer.
Unfortunately, the transfer is in real time and you'll likely have to
re-insert track marks by hand. You'll want a sound card that ignores
SCMS,
otherwise, it won't record MD's you digitally recorded from CD.
I've used this process before and it works just fine. To aid in doing the
track splits, I wrote a program that communicates with my NetMD and
creates
a .cue file (PC only, command line only). I can then load the .cue file
into my recording software and do all the track splits at once. This was
a
real time saver. I thought about making this program available publicly,
but it's a command line only thing, and you still have to manually cut the
beginning of the first track, so it's not completely automated or easy to
use. :-(
Still, a program like CD Wave (shareware with a free trial period) makes
it
easy to insert track marks when you're done recording.
How many MD's do you have to transfer to PC/Mac?
