Why didn't you say it is for video?  I bet it does a killer job and as
you say the surround might be a great effect.  One could always mix in
a little H2 recorded quad back in the room with some close up mics for
ambience.  

For high quality music recording I suggest Sonnova thinks again.  But
as you suggested one can always buy one and try it.   Since it is only
$200, it wouldn't be a big loss of $$$.  Myself, I think I might hold
out for something like the new Sony only at a slightly cheaper price.
I just got an MZM200 HiMD so I don't need another recorder at the
moment.
