There is noise, but I doubt seriously is you would ever hear it. This is 
clearly not a pro-level device, and I think I'll wait awhile until
something 
better breaks ground. I've handled the Edirol and I don't like the way it 
feels. It might have good specs but seems flimsy to me. I have my laptop
and 
a A/D converter to go with it , and it makes excellent digital recordings,
so 
I'll use it for a while as I wait for the SS recorder market to sort
itself 
out.
