Wow, that's a hard one.  Different MD's have different features with
regard to copy protection and how Sonic Stage treats recordings made
with the optical in.  Maybe a N710 user can give you a definitive
answer.

Assuming the MD will record with your CD player's output, I'm
understanding you want to burn your MP3's to CDRW and then play them
on your Techincs CD player, recording them to MD in the ATRAC format
using the optical out cable?  Is that correct?  IF so I think it
should work with the possible exception that most CD players do a lot
better with CDR than CDRW.  You'll probably have less errors and
possibly slightly better end quality if you sacrifice some CDR's to
the task.

Maybe you can return the cable if this doesn't work?
