Well, Recorder/players and blank discs are still available from a number
sources on the internet, but here, too, stores no longer seem to stock the
things.

MiniDisc was killed (or at least eclipsed) by the iPod and the amateur
recording market is simply too small of a niche to sup****t the format, it
seems.
The future belongs to solid-state storage. There simply is little reason
to
put-up with mecahnical media any more . While MiniDisc technology is a
marvel
of miniaturization, there is little doubt that a recorder/player format
with
NO moving parts should be superior.
