I hadn't even considered that.  Problem is, my CD player only has coax
out, 
and the deck capable of LP2 only has optical in.  In between, I had an
older, 
SP-only  deck that has both coax and optical in, and optical out.  On the 
other hand, for LP2 maybe that setup is sufficient.  Thanks to all who
took  
the time to answer, or comment.
