I'm only thinking about it.  The thing is that I don't have any 
of the old recordings on the hard drive as it is only 20GB and 
that has to include my operating system and all programs.  I 
have in excess of 500 minidiscs all formatted to HiMD and about 
20 of them are 1GB discs so it would need a very large HD.

I suppose another way of looking at it is 'how does SS decide 
what it the original computer?'.  Does it link the file to a 
serial number of the HD, the CPU or motherboard?  Or does it 
merely just check if that file is already on the HD?  If the 
later then in is no longer valid as recent versions of SS allow 
me to transfer files back that are no longer on the HD despite 
getting a warning everytime that I delete them this is not 
possible???

Frankly at the moment the ability to transfer files back and 
forth is more im****tant than upgrading my computer as 95% of my 
computer use is with my hobby of BBC radio comedy and my HiMD 
recorder.

The only reason for an upgrade would be to speed things up 
because it currently is slower than real-time on my P200 
computer *but* I've lived with it for over 6 years now.  :-)))
