I would make a backup copy of the song you want to add your voice to. If
sound blaster's wave studio app is a destructive editor then you will be
kicking yourself after your first attempt and it doesn't work out well
with
the timing.
Overall you will probably be able to get the timing right with a lot of
practice attempts. It probably won't sound great unless your voice is well
matched to depeche mode's lead singer.
Condenser microphones need a pre-amp because they need an electrical
charge
to bias the diaphragm in the microphone. This bias voltage allows the
movement of the diaphragm to be detected and the electrical signal sent
back
to your sound card is the representation of that diaphragm movement. Your
sound card does not provide phantom power. Therefore it has to be supplied
either by a separate box called a microphone pre-amp that sits between
your
microphone and your computer or some microphones have a battery
compartment
that can supply the bias voltage.
Dynamic microphones do not need a bias voltage because frankly they do not
use the same mechanism to convert sound to an electrical signal. Everyone
is
recommending condenser mics to you because dynamic mics are not very
sensitive and don't capture everything.
