Guitar amplifiers make poor PA systems.

Lavalieres make poor PA announce mics.

Put the 2 together and you get results about like you have described.

Most aerobics / linedancing classes and the like the leader uses a
wireless
headworn mic with a small (and sometimes not so small) PA system that
includes music playback.

The Distortion problem can be minimized by adjusting the mic sensitivity
control on the transmitter and/or placing a foam windscreen over the mic
element.

A low cost but still usable wireless system by Nady might be worth a look

Low cost PA equipment can be had from Behringer or Nady among others.
