RCA WM002 Wireless Lavelier Microphone - Question

by Bassman <bruce51@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sep 2, 2007 at 10:26 AM

I was recently given an RCA WM002 Wireless Lavelier Microphone. I was
hoping that I could use it with my wife's clog dancing group so the
leader could call out steps when learning new steps. I have plugged
the receiver into a 3.5mm to 6.5mm phono plug adapter and plugged into
a small guitar amplifier. After turning the volume up to just below
the point where I get feedback (about 6 on a scale of 10), with the
mic clipped to the lapel, I get just enough volume to 'just' hear
voice through the amp. If I move the mic closer to the mouth,
distorsion increases as I get closer.

Now to my questions...
1. Am I expecting too much from this older model mic? I can't seem to
get any info from the net on it at all.
2. Would plugging it into a preamp be of any benefit? I don't have one
but could borrow one if someone says the it 'will' make a difference.

Thanks for any help or suggestions that anyone can give.

Bruce
