at present i am interfacing several new computers to broadcast consoles.
i
go to R-shack and buy the 1/8 to 1/8 TRS cable (with the molded
connectors)
and cut them in half. then extend as needed.
if i hook line level out to line in on the computer i will probably need
a -10 dB pad to insure against clipping the input. (maybe only -6 dB ...
sometimes it a bit of trial and error with specific equipment)
in your case your pre is probably adjustable, however if you ONLY have a
mic
input you will need to attenuate by 30 to 40 dB as a guess. if you try
the
with the preamp likely the result will be very hissy. in addition you will
need to take the phantom power supplied by the computers mic in in to
consideration.
i would probably attenuate with a small 10K multi-turn pot wired as an "L"
pad.
yes, you are on the right track.
