you are suffering with the desease of cheapmicitus. there are a number of
manufacturesrs who make fine, usable products including but not limited to
Shure, EV/Telex, Lectroconics, Sennheiser.

i have reciently used a Shure UT4 handheld on female vocal with acceptable
results. this unit used a SM58 capsule.  you should be able to pick up a
used UT4 system for about $200 USD or so.

the Shure ULX  (ULXS) series offers more versatility (frequency agile) but
at a higher price tag  ( $600 - $700 new retail)  they can be ordered with
either dynamic or condenser type capsules.
