bass roll off in this case is probably for subsonic rumble. probably not
needed if you mount it on a shock mount system. it is indeed odd that the
switch is mounted inside the mic.
the venerable Shure SM-7 uses a metal plate on the back (often discarded)
to
cover the roll off and presence switches.
