The problem arises because both your computer and your receiver are 
grounded.  Connecting the two chassis's together sets up a ground loop.

The ground loop current hum is picked up and amplified by the receiver.

Endless amounts have been written and posted to the internet regarding 
ground loops and how to fix the problem.  Poke around.
