Typically that kind of thing is the result of a ground loop.  And
typically the worst ground loops are those involving cable TV.

So is cable attached to the receiver in any way (e.g. via the TV or
set-top box)?  If so, does the humming stop when it is disconnected?
"Yes" implies you probably should get an isolator.  Even Radio Shack
should know what those are.
