Hi Paul,
I have a similar problem accessing tv audio signal independently of built
in
tv speakers.
There is no stereo headphone input jack and I need to not wake up
neighbours
late at night !
Have taken an rca line from audio output on the tv to an old top-loading
cassette deck.
The deck fortunately seems to have an inbuilt pre-amp which enables volume
control
to the headphone. Am now also trying some ancient audio amplifiers too.
With the deck I have to load a blank tape, set to record&play&pause and
to
monitor
the incoming tv audio signal...
for what it's worth
