FM Antenna/Reception

by "David Schwartz" <who4ever@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Oct 13, 2007 at 11:12 PM

What is the current technology for FM antennas?
I have a SONY STR-DG800 Multi Channel AV Receiver with extremely poor FM
reception. I live on Long Island, abut 50 miles from Manhattan. I get
great FM in the car, but fair to poor in the house. The receiver has a
coaxial 75 ohm antenna jack in the back, not the usual screw-in jacks that

you see on most receivers. The receiver came with an FM wire antenna (a
small, thin 2 foot wire connected to a coaxial plug that actually works
pretty well, but is not very cosmetic. I have an old TV antenna on the
roof
which I could hook up if you think it would be a good idea.

What is current FM antenna technology? Are there high tech electronic
antennas available these days or is it still the old school wire connected

to the receiver. Would my roof TV antenna be a good FM antenna? Does
cable
TV signal contain FM?

And we won't even begin to discuss AM.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.
