Interesting. Be advised, before bidding, that these amps only produce 8 to
12
watts RMS (It's impossible to know for sure from the description as one
would
have to know the plate voltage used). They also will not take a magnetic
phono cartridge, a microphone nor a guitar pickup without another stage of
preamplification. However, the amps must have come from fairly expensive
RCA
"brown-goods" console record players as most of these junkers had
single-ended amps in those days which were good for about 2-3 Watts, gobs
of
distortion, and no bass. Judging by the size of the output transformers on
these amps, I wouldn't expect exactly great bass from them either but
beware
that often brown-goods manufacturers would purposely boost the frequency
response of cheap amps at around 80 Hz to make them seem to have bass.
They'd
put them in a backless, bottomless cabinet along with a big, cheap 12"
speaker that s****ted a tiny 6 ounce Alnico -V magnet and possibly a
smaller
3" speaker connected in parallel with a capacitor for a "crossover". The
result was a "Hi-Fi" that went thump-thump-thump but had no real bass
below
80 Hz - but that 80 Hz was LOUD compared to the rest of the spectrum!
Other than that, if they're cheap enough, they might be a fun buy.
