I have just spent a couple of weeks setting up my Audigy 2 ZS, and I'm
happy to share what I learned. Unfortunately, I can't follow what you
are trying to do.

The digital coaxial output requires a monaural RCA cable into an
external Audio-Video "Home Theater" Receiver having a built-in DTS
and AC3 decoder.

As for powered PC speakers, I don't know how the Logitech Z (?) -5300
is designed to be connected. My Boston Acoustics speakers on another
machine use digital for the front channels and analog stereo for the
back two. The digital also travels over a monaural cable. It's
working fine with an older Audigy card.

These comments are from my experience with the Home Theater setup,
Audigy 2 ZS to external decoder:

Audigy Settings for s/pdif over coax : Audio HQ>device
controls>digital output sampling rate 48000
             >decoder>s/pdif passthrough

Filter settings: AC3Filter: spdif (disabled) is selected. (He means
decoding is to be disabled in the filter). System tab: Use AC3
filter for: [select all]. Spdif passthrough for: [select all] . Use
Direct Sound [yes]. Note new AC3Filter handles DTS as well, so DTS
must be bypassed as well as AC3.

Finally, that provided undecoded multichannel audio to my receiver,
which it could read and decode.

Note that this card will not play back 44,100 (CD sample rate)
multichannel .wav files from the hard drive over s/pdif to an external
decoder, as it is not a true passthrough card.

DVD's and CD's don't present a problem because the sound card knows
what type of medium it is, so it knows whether ro resample at 44100
for CD's or 48000 for DVD's. It doesn't know this about files on the
HD, so it assumes 48000 for everything.

I am looking for a card that will provide bit-accurate passthrough
from the hard drive, eliminating all resampling. Anybody?
